Sansevieria plant has striped, tubular leaves which are very smooth and a green-gray in color with a dark-green striped pattern. These leaves have pointed tips. Naturally this plant grows fan-shaped. These are extremely long lived plants. The growth is relatively slow and plants last for many years. It is widely used as an ornamental plant.

Now to discuss how to care for this plant:

Pot

First of all, the pots must be well drained. You should Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them dust-free. Every leaf is tipped with narrow point and you should take proper care not to damage it because a leaf with a broken tip will not grow.

Soil

This plant needs good drainage, so should be planted in well drained, sandy soil enriched with peaty compost. You can also use any good cactus mix or simply just coco peat.

Light

It likes bright light and can stand plenty of direct sunlight, but at the same time can tolerate a certain amount of shade – like your shaded window – without detriment to their growth, but will virtually stop growing if they are forced to live in poor light for any length of time. But, will survive in poor light as well.

Watering

Water only moderately, giving enough to make the potting mixture moist throughout at each watering, (ideally once in a month or two) Should not be over watered as Over-watering leads to rot and cause the leaves to topple over at the point where they join the root-stock. Water the soil, taking care not to get water on the leaves, which will cause them to rot. If the leaves turn yellow or get soft and mushy at their base, the plant is over-watered. Over-watering is more harmful as this plant is drought-tolerant

Feeding

Do not over-fertilize these plants. Apply a liquid fertilizer (10:10:10) about every 2-3 months.
