GAZANIA flowers belongs to Daisy Family. These flowers are available in different shades of Yellow, Orange and Red. Gardeners grow Gazania flowers as annual in most parts of the world. Do you want to know, how to collect Gazania seeds then let’s discuss the process. 

Gazania seeds are little tricky to harvest. There are following steps you need to take:

STEP 1 

Leave a few healthy Gazania flowers on the plant until they wilt and die. Let them dry for 5 – 7 days. So by this time they started to look like this:

STEP 2

Place the spent flower over a large paper preferably dark in colour, one at a time, pressing each bloom gently with your fingers. The seeds, which are small, fuzzy and cone shaped, will fall onto the paper

Secondly, and probably most important, be extremely careful with them as they are very small and surrounded by cotton like hairs, so can be easily blown away.  Gazania seeds will look like this:

STEP 3

Keep the seeds in a warm and dry place out of blowing wind and direct sunlight for 2-3 days till they dry up completely.

STEP 4

Now you can store the seeds either in a regular white paper envelope or a plastic zip-lock bag and then label it. Store the envelope/ Plastic bag in a cool, dry place until next season.

To collect gazania seeds, wait until the flower head has turned brown and dry before removing it from the plant. Shake the head to release the seeds, then store them in a dry, cool place until ready to plant.
